„elfzwanzig I Meidling – Mensch & Bezirk“
The new book by Michael Haitszinger and Klaus Prokop
Love. Laugh. Passion.
A colourful journey with special people to some of the most beautiful quarters of Meidling.
What else, but the famous Meidlinger "L" could inspire such a headline? The probably most famous tongue blow of our Danube metropolis comes not only from this quarter in the south of Vienna, but is also protected and cared for here like a precious cultural asset.
After their forays through boroughs of Währing and Ottakring, Michael Haitszinger and the photographer Klaus Prokop are drawn to Meidling this time. Armed with cameras and laptops, they once again capture the beauty and diversity of our city, which has received several awards for its quality of life. They talk to people who live, work or have a special relationship to the "twelfth" in this quarter of the city. The authors confidently accept their stories, highlight for us touching insights into their lives and invite us on an emotional surprise tour through the district. From Gaudenzdorf to Hetzendorf and from Wiental to Wienerberg, readers can expect an atmospheric mixture of urban flair, rural suburban charm and a host of unique personalities.
Shaped by a multicultural, passionate and dynamic togetherness, Meidling attracts with many eye-catching sights, opens his big treasure chest and proudly presents us its colorful wealth. Tightly built residential areas, on the one hand, and a relaxed and airy suburban atmosphere on its green edges, on the other. A district in which multiculturalism has long been seen as an asset rather than a burden. Where colorfully dyed and colored a modern facelift to create fresh and exciting spaces for encounters.
With varied pictures and many interesting insights into the Meidling soul, "elfzwanzig I Meidling - Mensch & Bezirk" shows the many faces of this charming place in the southwest of our federal capital.
About the authors:
Michael Haitszinger is far from tired of discovering his home-town. After Währing and Ottakring, it was now the "twelfth" that the Viennese stroller took a closer look at. And again it was the great encounters with many interesting people from the district that touched him most. Packed into interesting portraits, it is once again these stories that add to the book its emotional vitality.
Klaus Prokop caused once again his memory cards to overflow. The professional photographer - in search of the best Meidling motifs - spent countless hours in the district, always having his camera at hand. He patiently used the often short time windows to capture special moods and situations and record them for all time. Masterfully staged, he created thousands of pictures for his third illustrated book.
